Entercom, Urban One Swap Stations
• Entercom announced a station exchange agreement with Urban One that will enhance its positions in three key markets — under the terms of the deal, Entercom will acquire Hip Hop/R&B WPHI-FM (Hip Hop 103.9)/Philadelphia, Hip Hop/R&B WHHL (Hot 104.1)/St. Louis and Sports-Talk WTEM-AM (980 The Team)/Washington, D.C.
In exchange for these additions, Entercom will trade its Charlotte stations to Urban One — Hot AC WLNK (107.9 The Link), News-Talk WBT-AM & FM (1110 & 99.3 WBT) and Sports-Talk WFNZ-AM.
Concurrent with this news, Entercom also announced it plans to simulcast Newsradio KYW-AM/Philadelphia on WPHI’s 103.9 frequency. Entercom will also acquire the format, brand and creative assets of Urban One Adult R&B WFUN (The Lou)/St. Louis, which will be moved over to sister 96.3 KNOU, the current home of Top 40 NOW 96.3. Entercom expects to begin to operate the new stations under a time brokerage agreement on November 23. This transaction is expected to close in the 1st quarter of 2021.
