Ferguson Returns To ALT 92.1/Wilkes-Barre

• Times-Shamrock Communications’ Alternative WFUZ (ALT 92.1)/Wilkes Barre-Scranton, PA has found its new PD — and he’s the same as the old PD. Tom Ferguson officially returns to the big chair on Monday, replacing Phil “PK” Kukawinski, who left in March to program Alpha Media Alternative WGHL (ALT 105.1)/Louisville. Since that time, Marketing Director Mark Hoover has been wearing the interim PD fedora.

ALT 92.1 is very familiar turf for Ferguson, who previously spent 3 1/2 years as PD of WFUZ until May 2017, when he crossed the street to do afternoons at Entercom Classic Hits WMQX (Max 102).

RAMP checked in with Ferguson as he was preparing to move back into his former office, and he said, “I’ve got nothing but good things to say about my time with WMQX and Entercom Wilkes-Barre, where I got to work with some outstanding radio minds. They gave me a shot when I needed one, gave me the tools I needed to succeed, and let me flourish. I’ll never forget that.” He added, “Ultimately, I got the chance to go back to where I started, in the format I love, and remain in my hometown. I’m so excited to be back in Alternative, and I can’t wait to get started on making WFUZ the station that I know it can be.”
