Fister Flies To Florida
Rock radio vet John “Fister” Wilson is joining Magic Broadcasting Active Rock WYYX (97X)/Panama City, FL as PD and morning personality. In his introductory email, Wilson whimsically describes himself as “a 10-foot-tall barrel-chested beastman who showers in vodka… and I’m here to pick up your daughter.”
Fister is inbound from Cumulus Media in Macon, GA and previously served time at rockers WVRX/Knoxville, WKLS and WBZY/Atlanta, WYNF and WQBZ/Macon, and WFOX and KKND/New Orleans. He says he got his radio start in 1989 “sniffing toner cartridges” at former Top 40 WPPR in Warner Robins, GA.
Fister said, “OM Marc Summers and GM Misty Sims play to win, expect complete annihilation and give you the tools to murder anyone that gets in the way; tools like consultant Jeff Murphy and the voices in his head. Shout-out to my co-host Phone Boy, who is staying back to look after his dad.” Fister succeeds Stroke Mastro, who last month made the huge market leap to afternoons at Entercom Active Rock KRXQ (98 Rock)/Sacramento.
