Gilbert & Gersten Take On The Wolves

• Last month Cumulus flipped WWKX (Hot 106)/Providence to Classic Rock as 106.3 The Wolf, a mirror image of sister WMOS (102.3 The Wolf)/New London, CT. Now that both stations have settled in, so to speak, the company has begun the process of adding some more humans to the mix, tapping veteran Rhode Island media personalities Will Gilbert  and Heather Gersten for afternoons and middays, respectively, on both stations, joining longtime Wolf morning talent Mike English.

Gilbert (left) is a Rhode Island native who broke into radio at the age of 16 and has worked in local media ever since. He currently does weekends on Top 40 sister 92 PRO-FM and hosts The Rhode Show weekdays at 9am on WPRI-TV.

Gersten (right) is a major market veteran who earlier worked in New York and Boston. For the past 21 years she has hosted mornings on both WWKX and AC sibling WWLI (Lite 105), where she currently co-hosts the morning show alongside Matty Blake and serves as APD and Imaging Director.

Doug MacGunnigle, PD of both Wolves, commented, “We’re beyond thrilled to add Will and Heather to our lineup on The Wolf. They are friendly and familiar voices to listeners in Southern New England. Their decades of experience in the media and cultural landscape and their knowledge of all things Southern New England will be a huge asset to The Wolf.”

Gilbert said, “I’m incredibly grateful to have been asked to join 102.3 The Wolf and 106.3 The Wolf. I’m excited for this new on-air adventure each afternoon in Rhode Island and Connecticut, while still being on TV daily on The Rhode Show. Thank you to Holly Paras, Doug MacGunnigle, and Mary Ellen Kachinske at Cumulus Media, and to Pat Wholey at WPRI for making this opportunity a reality.”

Gersten remarked, “I’m so thrilled to have true Classic Rock here in Southern New England and I can’t wait to share my love of the format with listeners in Providence and New London. Thanks to Cumulus Media for giving me the chance to truly rock!”
