Good Karma Brands Launches 880 ESPN NY
• Hours after Audacy’s venerable WCBS-AM 880/New York signed off, Good Karma Brands announced the official launch of 880 ESPN New York, marking a significant expansion in sports radio coverage for the region. The content previously heard on Emmis-owned 98.7 WEPN via LMA will now air on 880 AM, sporting new WHSQ calls.
ESPN New York will maintain its presence on two frequencies — 880 AM, airing the current local, weekday lineup, and 1050 WEPN-AM airing the ESPN Radio Network.
Vinny DiMarco, Market Manager of ESPN New York, expressed his excitement about the milestone, stating, “We are very proud to be stewards of the 880 AM signal, allowing us to extend our local content to a larger audience. The 880 AM signal is a clear channel, meaning it can be heard not only across much of the eastern United States, but also in parts of Eastern Canada, especially at night. This expansion and investment is a testament to our commitment to providing unparalleled sports coverage for our listeners and unique opportunities for our advertising partners.”
ESPN New York is now the home for all 162 New York Mets games, including any postseason action. 880 ESPN New York will also serve as the flagship for the New York Knicks and Rangers, whose games previously aired on 98.7 FM.
880 ESPN New York will also be available on 101.1 WCBS-HD2. 880 AM and 98.7 FM will simulcast until August 30, the expiration date of Good Karma’s LMA with Emmis.
