Halverson Named PD, KJ97/San Antonio

• iHeartMedia San Antonio has named Alek Halverson as the new Program Director of Country KAJA (KJ97). He succeeds Kyle Due, who recently left the company and is expected to announce his new opportunity shortly.

Halverson earns the transfer and sweet programming upgrade from just up I-35 in Austin, where he has been APD of Top 40 sister KHFI (96.7 Kiss FM) and afternoon talent on Country KASE 101 since January… the later gig he will retain. Before arriving in Austin, Halverson was MD/afternoon personality at Audacy Country KKWF (100.7 The Wolf)/Seattle, and began his career at KVOX/Fargo, ND.

Halverson reports to Jason McCollim, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia San Antonio and Austin, who said, “Alek is one of the rising stars within iHeartMedia. With his tremendous knowledge of the Country music format, we knew he was the right person to lead this excellent brand. I know our entire team in San Antonio is excited to watch him take the reins and elevate the brand of KJ97. Let’s go!”

Commenting on his new Alamo City opportunity, Halverson said, “I couldn’t be more excited to be programming KJ97. Going to high school in San Antonio, I fell in love with the city and the state of Texas. Getting to run one of the biggest Country stations in San Antonio is a dream come true and I can’t thank iHeartMedia enough for this opportunity.” Send your congrats to AlekHalverson@iheartmedia.com.

• Meanwhile… back in Austin… KHFI is now seeking a qualified APD to replace Halverson. The position is posted on the iHeartMedia Careers portal (Req. 26535)
