Hanson Named PD of WCCO/Minneapolis

John Hanson has been named as the new PD of News-Talk WCCO-AM 830/Minneapolis, effective immediately. Those duties had been previously handled by former OM Andy Bloom, who exited last month. Hanson earns the transfer from Entercom Kansas City, where he programmed Sports-Talk duo KCSP-AM (610 Sports Radio) and KWOD-AM (1660 The Score).

“John brings extensive knowledge of the Kansas City community to his new role with 830 WCCO,” said Shannon Knoepke, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Minneapolis. “I trust our listeners will enjoy the innovative and exciting programing that he will add to the station.”

The move marks a welcome return to the Twin Cities for Hanson, who, prior to joining Entercom in 2013 co-hosted Twin Cities Live on KSTP-TV/Minneapolis. He previously programmed Lotus Sports-Talk KBAD-AM (ESPN Radio 920)/Las Vegas. “This is a wonderful opportunity,” Hanson said. “I’ve tuned into this station my entire life, so I know all about its legendary past. I look forward to WCCO-AM’s exciting future that meets the interests and fast-paced needs of today’s listener.”
