Happy Trails, Scott Wheeler!
• Sending our best wishes to longtime Peoria, IL programmer and air personality Scott Wheeler, whose retirement was effective on April 1.
Wheeler (a.k.a Rob Brown) is a 46-year radio veteran — 42 of those years spent in Peoria — is best known for his time as a personality and PD of legendary Top 40 WKZW (KZ93) in the late ’80s and early ’90s. In 1997 he launched Big Oldies 93.3, which spent its nearly 10-year run atop or near the top of the Peoria ratings.
Wheeler also worked WGCL-FM/Cleveland and spent nine years at Contemporary Christian WCIC-FM/Peoria from 2006-2015 before returning to Midwest Communications’ Peoria cluster in 2016, where he held various roles, the last six months as a consultant for the Peoria group.
As we speak, Wheeler continues to do commercial voice work for stations across the country and can be contacted at radiowheelz@gmail.com.
