Hey Vegas: Cat’s Back!
• RAMP has confirmed that longtime Las Vegas-based radio pro Cat Thomas has returned to the position he left back March — Operations Manager and Digital PD of Beasley’s Las Vegas cluster and PD of Urban AC KOAS (Jammin’ 105.7), replacing Tom Calococci. More on Tom in a moment.
Thomas (left) had resigned from full-time radio back in March to pursue a unique opportunity at a digital start-up (BizConnect & Zimmi.com), while continuing to consult KOAS.
Thomas originally joined Beasley Las Vegas in Nov. 2020, coming off of a stint as OM/PD of Entercom’s KNOU (Now 96.3), KYKY (Y98) and KEZK/St. Louis. Well entrenched in Vegas for three decades, Thomas notably spent 28 years with CBS Radio/Entercom Las Vegas, rising to VP of Programming for the cluster and PD of KLUC/Las Vegas for 20 years. He later spent two years with Cumulus Media as VP of Contemporary Formats until Oct. 2018.
• Calococci’s lengthy programming resume includes the late KJMZ (100.3 Jamz)/Dallas, WERQ (92Q)/Baltimore, KZZP/Phoenix, KBXX (97.9 The Box)/Houston, KKBT (100.3 The Beat)/Los Angeles, WPOW (Power 96) and WFLC/Miami. He also spent four years as an Affiliate Relations Ambassador at Sheet Happens prep.
Always the consummate pro, Calococci told RAMP, “I absolutely enjoyed my short run with Beasley Las Vegas programming KOAS and I’ve got nothing but love for the company, the Beasley family and the great team of people in Las Vegas. Cat Thomas is an amazing programmer who brings an incredible skill-set to the table with his knowledge of digital, social media and search engine optimization, so I certainly understand the move. I wish him and everyone at Beasley/Las Vegas all the best and I’ll miss working with that great team.” He added, “As for what’s next — I am fully energized, ready for my next challenge and look forward to my next move.” Calococci can be reached at 323-717-1778 or tomcalococci@gmail.com.
