Hurricane Dave Named ATL Pres., NBRHOF
• The National Black Radio Hall of Fame (NBRHOF) is proud to announce the appointment of veteran programmer “Hurricane” Dave Smith as the incoming Chapter President for its Atlanta division, effective Jan. 1, 2024.
With a career spanning over four decades, Smith is not only an accomplished radio programmer but has also played a pivotal role in nurturing talent within the industry, coaching several APDs who have gone on to become Program Directors and Operations Managers in various markets nationwide.
“Dave Smith’s wealth of talent and expertise makes him a valuable addition to our organization,” said Marsha Washington George, 2nd Vice President of the organization’s national board and Pres., Southeastern Region. “We are thrilled to have him as Chapter President in Atlanta, where he will continue to serve the National Black Radio Hall of Fame.”
Along with his new duties as Atlanta Chapter President, Smith will continue as a national board member and Chairperson for the nomination and induction process. He will also collaborate closely with Marsha Washington George, lead the induction ceremonies in Atlanta in 2024 and revamp the NBRHOF website.
Reflecting on this unique opportunity, Smith remarked, “This affords me the ability to remain an integral part of an industry I fell in love with 40 years ago. It’s fitting that my birthday falls on National Radio Day. As the incoming Chapter President, my goal is to expand our presence in Atlanta and assist the national organization. I am grateful to Mr. Bernie Hayes, NBRHOF Founder and President, Mrs. Uvee Hayes, 1st VP, and Mrs. Marsha Washington George, 2nd VP of the National Office.”
Smith will continue to operate Brand It Live, an Atlanta-based consulting firm, working with influencers, entertainment entities, and radio stations, leveraging the latest A.I. technology. He can be contacted at dave@branditlive.com.
