Jay Michaels Joins Audacy Houston
• Less than a week after leaving Cumulus Shreveport, Jay Michaels has arrived in Houston as the newly named Asst. Brand Manager of Hot AC KHMX (Mix 96.5) and Adult Hits KKHH (95.7 The Spot). Michaels will also do middays on Mix 96.5.
“Jay’s experience, passion for programming and creativity in radio brand marketing stations make him a great fit for Audacy Houston,” said Melissa Chase, VP of Programming, Audacy Houston. “We are so excited to have him join our team!”
Michaels spent the last 11 years with Cumulus, the last four as OM of the company’s Shreveport, AL group and PD of Hot AC KQHN (Q97.3), Country KRMD and AC KRMD-AM (Lite Rock 100.7). He also did mornings on Q97.3. Michaels earlier spent six years with Cumulus Indianapolis as PD of Classic Hits WJJK and former Top 40 WYRG (Energy 93.9) — now WNDX (93.9X). Previous stops include WMGI/Terre Haute, IN, KQMV/Seattle, WSTO (Hot 96) & WIKY/Evansville, IN and Metro Networks in Louisville, to name a few.
“From the first time I spoke to Melissa Chase and [SVP/Market Manager] Sarah Frazier, I knew this is where I wanted to be,” said Michaels. “The culture and environment that they’ve built in Houston is amazing! KHMX is an iconic station and I’m still pinching myself that I’ll get to be a part of it. I’m so excited to join an innovative and audio-first company like Audacy.”
