Johnson Named APD, 98 Rock/Baltimore

• Back in April we first reported that Hearst Television’s heritage Rock station WIYY (98 Rock)/Baltimore had launched a planetwide search for a talented APD to succeed Dan McClintock, who announced that he and his wife are relocating back to Pensacola, FL for family reasons.

Now, as McClintock’s departure is fast approaching, 98 Rock PD Rick Strauss is thrilled to announce the name of McClintock’s successor as APD — say hello to format veteran Justin Johnson (pictured, left), who was most recently the National Rock Format Coordinator for iHeartMedia and Program Director of heritage Rock powerhouse WEBN/Cincinnati.

Johnson’s earlier stops include morning show producer at WKLS (the former Project 9-6-1)/Atlanta, PD of WWBA/Tampa, talk host at WTKS/Orlando and WJFK/Washington, and on-air at WWDX/Lansing, MI.

Johnson, who officially starts on Wednesday, July 12, noted, “A bit about me — outside of the workplace you can find me doing a few things that range from nerdy to geeky. I’m a horror movie, pro wresting, football, and retro video game fan when at home. When out and about my time is spent hiking with the dog, boxing at the gym, or sipping bourbon. Follow me on IG @dubsradio. Looking forward to meeting everyone soon!”
