Johnson Named PD of Raleigh’s Pulse-FM

• Curtis Media Group announces the hire of Matt Johnson as the new Program Director of Top 40 WPLW/WWPL (Pulse-FM 96.9/102.5)/Raleigh. He succeeds Jud Heussler, who last month was named PD of Cox Media Group Top 40 WAPE/Jacksonville.

Johnson, who is also doing afternoon drive, brings a wealth of Top 40 experience to the Triangle, having most recently programmed iHeartMedia Top 40 KSLZ (Z107.9)/St Louis until last November, when he was one of many caught up in a round of companywide downsizing. Prior to joining KSLZ in May 2018, Johnson spent five years with Broadway Media Salt Lake City as OM/PD of Top 40 KUDD (Mix 105.1) and Rhythmic KUUU (U92). Earlier stops include seven years as PD of Beasley Top 40 WXKB (B103.9)/Ft. Myers, and he’s also made stops at WDKF/Dayton and WDBT/Jackson, MS.

Curtis Media Group SVP & Pulse GM David Stuckey commented, “Matt’s success in the format and experience leading stations in locally owned companies made him the ideal candidate. I can’t wait to hear him on the air and see him lead our live and local staff of broadcasters to continued success.” Johnson said, “I’m excited to make great radio with Trip Savery, David Stuckey, and the entire team at Curtis Media Group. Any company that prioritizes its clients and listeners is sure to have a true and lasting positive impact on the local community and I share that vision.” Johnson can be congratulated at 919-790-9392 or mjohnson@curtismedia.com.
