Jones’ & Tamo Time Changes At DC101
• Changes are afoot at iHeartMedia Alternative WWDC (DC101)/Washington, as it was announced that 17-year station vet Mike Jones is moving from middays to afternoon drive, and Tamo Sein is elevated from nights to middays, and awarded APD/MD stripes… and it all starts tomorrow, Friday the 13th.
Jones will now host The Afternoon Adventure from 3-7pm, while Tamo will celebrate “It’s Tamo Time” in middays, following Elliot in the Morning.
Jones and Tamo both report to Dustin Matthews, Director of Rock Programming for iHeartMedia Washington, D.C., who commented, “For nearly 50 years, the success of DC101 has been rooted in larger-than-life personalities who are passionate about the music and put the audience first. Mike Jones and Tamo are two shining examples of that legacy, uniquely connecting to the DMV through the music, lifestyle and certainly humor. I’m thrilled to watch them grow in their new roles as part of the ongoing evolution of this iconic brand.”
Over his 17-year tenure at DC 101, Jones has done nights, middays and worked with Elliot in the Morning. Earlier stops include WHFS/Baltimore, the former WXRK (92.3 K-Rock)/New York and SiriusXM. “I’ve held the title of ‘Midday Princess’ for a long time, and now I’m excited to be the leader of The Afternoon Adventure on DC101,” said Jones. “Thanks to Dustin Matthews, Aaron Hyland, Jeff Kapugi, my Mom, the Big Man upstairs and everyone for this opportunity!”
Tamo has been DC101’s evening entertainer since 2020. She previously did middays on sister KYSR (ALT 98.7)/Los Angeles, and served as APD/MD/midday talent on WEND (The End)/Charlotte, and MD/afternoons at WRXL/Richmond. She has been filling in on afternoon drive since the August departure of former MD/afternoon talent Greg Roche.
“It’s ‘Tamo Time!’ Sees the sun!” Tamo exclaimed. “Beyond excited to follow the best morning show in radio, EITM, and to join forces with Dustin Matthews on the programming side to bring his vision of making the mighty DC101 even more of a behemoth!”
> Now, with Tamo moving up to middays, the mighty DC101 now has a prime night-time opening. Killer candidates should hop on this one immediately and apply today via the iHeartMedia Careers department. [Req32155] EOE.
