Just Turned 10… Still Acts 6…

• Sending our congratulations, a balloon bouquet and a hearty handshake to Craig Venn & Mike “Lucky” Luck, who are celebrating their landmark 10th (tin) anniversary in mornings on Durham Radio Active Rock CKGE (94.9 The Rock)/Toronto with several cans of ice cold (Caution: swag alert) 94.9 The Rock Hard Lager.

Now embarking on their second decade as hosts of what we are told is Toronto’s longest running Rock radio morning show, Venn (right) pontificates about their ten-year partnership, noting, “I think Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley said it best with ‘I’ve had the time of my life and never felt this way before… Yes, I swear it’s the truth, and I owe it all to you.'” At the same time, Lucky (left) muses, “I’m sure Craig sees himself as a Patrick Swayze lookalike with the long flowing mullet, but I see him more like John C. Reilly and this is Stepbrothers. We didn’t pick this relationship, but somewhere after MANY of our disagreements, we became best friends!”

Doug Elliott, PD of 94.9 The Rock claims that “Chemistry is everything, and oil and water do mix.   We have two very different, strong personalities with sometimes blended opinions and sometimes very heated arguments. Both interactions make for a great show that make you want to cling to every minute waiting in your car with the engine running, late for work ‘cuz you can’t miss what’s next.” Elliott added, “We’re really proud of what the boys have achieved together and with Lucky doing play by play with Hockey Night in Canada and Craig at his other station… the Esso down on the corner.”
