Lawrence Writing His Next Chapter

• Veteran programmer Bob Lawrence joins the growing ranks of fellow radio pros who are unplugging and heading into retirement. Lawrence, who has served as Market Manager of MacDonald Broadcasting’s three-station group in Saginaw, MI since last May, made his announcement in a Facebook post that reads, in part: “It’s truly a momentous day personally, as I announced my impending departure from MacDonald Broadcasting and retirement from the business for which I have been so very passionate. I’m truly proud of all I’ve accomplished throughout this wonderful career that has filled nearly half a century in the blink of an eye.”

Indeed, highlights of Lawrence’s lengthy career include a stint as GM of RAB’s National Radio Talent System (NRTS). In 2020, Lawrence moved to Jackson, MS as Market Manager for New South Radio, later adding the company’s Meridian market. In 2000, he launched Pinnacle Media Worldwide, serving 15 years as President/CEO of the San Diego-based research firm before being recruited in 2015 by Saga Communications, spending five years in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI as corporate VP of Programming/Content. Earlier in his career Lawrence served a decade as SVP of Operations at Broadcast Architecture.

Lawence’s post continued, “I will definitely try to write the novel I have had living inside my head for several years. We certainly want to see our children and grandchildren more often and just enjoy one another for whatever time God grants us moving forward together.” Bob’s full-length retirement announcement is posted HERE — and we sincerely appreciate the shout-out!

We understand Bob and his wife Risea are relocating back to Mississippi. Your good wishes can be shared with Bob at bglawrence@me.com.
