Line Of Successful Succession @ WTTS
• Here’s some big news breaking in the hallways of Sarkes Tarzian’s heritage Triple A WTTS/Indianapolis — after a remarkable 37-year run with Sarkes Tarzian, Inc., WTTS President/GM Geoff Vargo announced his retirement, effective at the end of the year.
As part of this orderly transition process, current WTTS Station Manager/PD Brad Holtz will move up into the GM role on Jan. 1, 2019. He will carry the Station Manager title through the end of the year, while APD/MD/afternoon personality Laura Duncan has been elevated to PD of WTTS, effective immediately. Ms. Duncan will also serve as PD of News/Talk sister WGCL/Bloomington, IN and transition into the role of PD for WAJI HD-2 (ALT 99-5)/Fort Wayne by the end of the year. WTTS has launched a search for an on-air Music Director. Details after this story.
Holtz (left) is a 21-year Indianapolis radio pro who started his career in programming and promotion roles with Emmis Communications. He has programmed WTTS since 2002, adding WGCL and WAJI-HD2 duties over the past few years. He was named Station Manager in May 2018. Duncan (right) is a 30-year radio veteran who has served as MD since 2004. She has also worked at the late KPRI/San Diego. Commenting on this major transition, Holtz remarked, “As I move into a new role in my career, I’m delighted that Laura Duncan will take over the programming reigns at WTTS. As our APD/MD for the past 14 years, Laura has set herself apart as one of the most dedicated and passionate in our business. She’ll be an outstanding programmer at WTTS.”
• With all that being said, WTTS/Indianapolis now needs to fill a key position in the programming department: Music Director/On-Air Host. First, a few questions: 1) Tired of corporate radio? 2) Want to join an environment that encourages creativity, musical discovery and the creation of unforgettable listener experiences? 3) Do you love music and the power of local radio?
Our next MD will be a positive, forward-thinking pro that can multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Solid MusicMaster or Selector skills are critical, and familiarity with Wide Orbit, Adobe Audition and VoxPro also appreciated.
We’re looking for a passionate music lover who can communicate effectively to an equally passionate adult audience, on the air and via social media platforms. Daily duties will include the scheduling of music logs, assessing music for airplay, growing and maintaining productive relationships within the music and concert community and doing a regular air shift. On-air experience is required, preferably a minimum three years doing Triple A or Alternative in a large market. Candidates should send resume and MP3 demo to PD Laura Duncan at laura@wttsfm.com. No calls please. EEO.
