Long Named PD Of KFI, KLAC & KEIB/Los Angeles
• iHeartMedia Los Angeles has tapped News-Talk-Sports vet Brian Long as the new Program Director of News-Talk KFI AM 640, Sports-Talk KLAC (AM 570 LA Sports) and Conservative Talk KEIB-AM (The Patriot 1150), effective Jan. 27.
Long spent the past year as Director of Programming Operations for Bonneville Phoenix, but he’s an iHeartMedia veteran, having previously served nine years with iHeart San Diego as Director of News and Sports Programming. During an earlier stint with Bonneville, Long was Sr. Director of Programming and PD of KIRO (710 ESPN)/Seattle. Long began his radio career at KMBZ in his hometown of Kansas City, and in 1998 he headed west for gigs in Palm Springs, Bakersfield and ESPN Los Angeles.
Long will report to John Peake, EVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Los Angeles, who said, “Programming KFI, KLAC and KEIB requires a unique skill set, and Brian checks every box. His exceptional track record in ratings and revenue success, combined with professional play-by-play broadcasts, makes him the ideal leader to manage our partnerships with the world champion Dodgers and the Los Angeles Chargers.”
“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to lead these powerful iHeartMedia brands in Los Angeles and to work with some of the best talent in America,” said Long. “I truly could not be more excited to embrace this new challenge.”
These three PD posts have been vacant since the November departures of former longtime KFI & KEIB Program Director Robin Bertolucci and her husband, Don Martin, EVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Sports and PD of KLAC.
