Mars Is Binnie’s Maine Ingredient

• Industry veteran Stella Mars is joining Binnie Media as Regional Director of Operations for Maine, starting today.

Mars is a Maine native who spent the past three years working as an air talent and producer for Maine Public. Her lengthy radio resume started in Portland in 1984, leading into on-air positions with WZOU, WBOS, WERZ and WBMX/Boston. After three years in middays at WROR/Boston, Mars moved to Los Angeles to work at KOST 103.5 and DMX, Inc. She returned to Boston in 2008 and spent the next seven years in various roles with Greater Media, rising to Creative Services Director.

“We are thrilled to welcome Stella to the Binnie team,” said Heath Cole, Binnie Media EVP of Programming. “Her expertise in programming, production, on-air skills, and management makes her a fantastic addition. And the fact that she’s a Mainer is a bonus!” The new gig also marks a reunion for Mars and Morgan Prue, Binnie Media’s Regional Promotions and Programming Coordinator, who worked together at Greater Media Boston back in the day.

“This is a dream come true,” Mars said. “I began my career on 107.5 in Portland, and to return to the frequency is really a homecoming of sorts. I’m grateful to Binnie President Massimo Rosati and Heath Cole for their confidence in me, and I’m looking forward to working with an amazing group of professionals!”

> Binnie owns several top stations in the Portland area, including Classic Hits WFNK (107.5 Frank-FM), Country WTHT (99.9 The Wolf), Active Rock WHXR (106.3 The Bone), and the group’s newest station, Soft Rock WBQQ (93.3 The Wave)/Kennebunk.
