• UPDATED: St. Louis radio fixture Tommy Mattern has been promoted to Operations Manager of Hubbard Radio’s five-station Gateway City group. Mattern is already OM/PD of Alternative KPNT (105.7 The Point) and heritage Rock KSHE and he now annexes operational oversight of Adult Hits WARH (106.5 The Arch), Country WIL-FM (New Country 92.3) and Sports-Talk WXOS (101.1 ESPN).

Mattern has been PD of KPNT since 1998 and added OM stripes for KSHE in January 2016. He previously served as OM for KSHE and KPNT as well as Top 40 KNOU (NOW 96.3) and FM News-Talk 97.1 KFTK under previous owner Emmis until the latter two were sold to Entercom in January 2018.

In making the announcement, Hubbard Radio St. Louis VP/Market Manager John Kijowski said, “Tommy has had a great run of consistent ratings and revenue production while at KSHE and KPNT and is deserving of this promotion. Tommy’s knowledge of the market and his record of success is undeniable.”

Mattern commented, “I would like to thank [SVP of Programming] Greg Strassell and John Kijowski for this opportunity and for having the confidence in me to take on this new role. I look forward to working with our local programmers and our sales staffs to strengthen our ratings and grow our revenue at these five big brands.” Your congratulatory emails can be directed to Tommy at TMattern@hubbardradio.com.

• In a related story, Hubbard has seen fit to reward Scott Rizzuto, host of The Rizzuto Show on 105.7 The Point with a sweet four-year contract extension. The Rizzuto Show in its current form debuted in March 2014 and consists of Rizzuto, co-hosts Tony Patrico and Jeff Burton, co-host/producer Phillip “Moon” Sneed and co-host/associate producer “King Scott” McNew.

“Hubbard Radio believes in live and local talent,” said VP/Market Manager John Kijowski. “The Rizzuto Show is undeniable when it comes to connecting with listeners, mirroring their lifestyles, and talking about things that matter locally. The Rizzuto Show love is real! We’re excited to partner with Scott for another four years.” OM/PD Tommy Mattern said, “Scott Rizzuto has been a tremendous personality at The Point for 16 years. His ratings dominance over the last four-plus years in morning drive has been nothing short of historic. We are ecstatic that he has agreed to lead AM Drive at the Point for another four years.”

Rizzuto stated, “I’m so grateful to everyone at Hubbard Radio for allowing me to spend the next four years waking up the city of St. Louis with my crew. I love this city and there is no other company I would rather work for. Hubbard is without a doubt THE BEST, and they believe in LOCAL radio. Thank you, Ginny Morris, Greg Strassell, Drew Horowitz, John Kijowski, Tommy Mattern and my brothers on The Rizzuto Show.”
