Matthews Upgraded From Boise To KC
• Congrats to Kyle Matthews, Brand Manager and afternoon talent on Townsquare Media’s KAWO (Wow Country 104.3)/Boise, ID, who is packing for a big move to Kansas City — he’s joining Steel City Media’s heritage Country KBEQ (Q104) as Music Director — with an airshift TBA, effective April 7.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kyle to KBEQ,” said Marc Harrell, Market Manager for Steel City Media Kansas City. “His talent, industry knowledge, and deep passion for Country music make him the perfect addition to our on-air team. We look forward to seeing the impact he will have on both our audience and our brand.”
Matthews is a seasoned radio pro who joined KAWO in August 2022, coming off his second tour of duty with NRG Media Country KFGE (Froggy 98)/Lincoln, NE. He had earlier spent 2016-2018 in middays on Froggy 98, with a year in middays on Audacy Country KFRG/Riverside sandwiched in between.
Along the way, Matthews’ ability to connect with both listeners and the Country music community has earned him multiple CRS/Country Aircheck Award nominations and a Rusty Walker Scholarship for the Country Radio Seminar.
A clearly enthusiastic Matthews commented, “I am absolutely thrilled to join the KBEQ team as Music Director and on-air host. The opportunity to work with such an incredible station and engage with the Kansas City community is truly exciting. I can’t wait to bring live, local radio to our listeners and continue the strong tradition of country music programming that KBEQ is known for.” Matthews’ specific daypart assignment will be determined in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
