Mayor To President/Operations At NPR
• Loren Mayor has been named President, Operations for NPR. In this newly created position, Mayor (left) reports to NPR President & CEO Jarl Mohn and will now oversee daily operations and the leadership of NPR’s Programming, Legal, HR, Business Development, Diversity, Engineering/IT/Distribution, Member Partnership, and Policy and Representation groups. “Loren is recognized both inside NPR and across the public radio system for her deep commitment to public media and her rare ability to both set and execute vision, turning aspirations into measurable outcomes,” said Mohn. “Because of Loren, we are in a better position to achieve the goals in our strategic plan, fulfill our mission and prepare NPR for the next 50 years in our history.”
Mayor joined NPR six years ago and has been a key decision maker on multiple strategies — from identifying new business opportunities to developing the network’s strategic plan to strengthening NPR’s relationship with its Member stations and partners. For the past year, she has led NPR’s efforts to improve workplace culture. “NPR is an essential institution in this country and in the world,” Mayor remarked. “The work we do matters to millions of people every day. Personally, I’m grateful to be at a place filled with so many curious, passionate and principled people. I look forward to working together with our board, our Member stations and our staff to fulfill NPR’s mission to inform, challenge, delight and enlighten the American public. • Concurrent with Mayor’s promotion, Anya Grundmann (left) is upped from Vice President to Senior Vice President for Programming and Audience Development and Gemma Hooley (right) has been similarly promoted from Vice President to SVP Member Partnership in recognition of her leadership of NPR’s collaborative business relationship with hundreds of NPR Member stations. Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel Jon Hart, and Interim Chief HR Officer Graciela Montgomerywill now report to Mayor.
