Mays Takes The Bull By The Horns

• Yesterday we shared the news that Mid-West Family Broadcasting Country WRTB (95.3 The Bull)/Rockford, IL had offered longtime morning icon Steve Summers a “lifetime agreement” that will keep the local legend hosting The Bull morning show until he decides to retire from full-time work.

Today, the news continues — in a staff memo, Rockford OM Mark Van Allen laid out a revised structure in the local programming department — while Summers remains in mornings on The Bull TFN, he will trade in his Bull Brand Manager stripes for programming stripes of equal value on Classic Hits sister 100FM (WXRX-HD2). “Steve has already shared great ideas that will help the 100FM brand move forward and grow,” said Van Allen, adding, “That leads to a second announcement! Gordon Mays will now take over as Brand Manager for 95-3 The Bull. Gordon has been a tireless member of The Bull. His ‘go above and beyond’ attitude and fresh outlook will continue The Bull on its current growth path.”

Mays joined WRTB for afternoon drive in April 2017 after a decade in Philadelphia with CBS Radio/Beasley Country WXTU. His previous stops include WYSP/Philadelphia, WKQX & WLUP/Chicago and WJBR/Wilmington, DE.

Mays was upped to APD in Feb. 2019 and is now officially Brand Manager. Along with his lofty new title, Mays will continue to do weekends on Entercom Country WUSN (US99)/Chicago.
