McKenna On The Loose

• New England radio legend Jerry McKenna is now a high-profile free agent for the first time ever, as his position as Director of Programming for Cape Cod Broadcasting (CCB Media) has been eliminated. McKenna had been with CCB in beautiful Hyannis, MA since November 2013, overseeing Hot AC WQRC, AC WOCN, Country WKPE and Classical WFCC. Before that he was OM and Regional PD of the Cumulus clusters in Worcester and Springfield, MA.

McKenna started his radio career at WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston and was later named APD of the late WZOU/Boston. His first PD gig was at WWKX (Hot 106)/Providence, and his impressive Boston PD resume includes WQSX (Star 97.3) and its successor, WMKK (93.7 Mike FM) as well as WBMX (Mix 98.5). Over the course of his lengthy career, McKenna has programmed Top 40, Rhythm Top 40, AC, Hot AC, Country and Classic Hits stations.

McKenna also spent some time on the label side back in the day, doing Rhythm-Crossover Promotion for both RCA and Columbia Records, and in the mid-’90s he worked for Billboard as Hot 100 Chart Manager and Director of Charts for the late, great Airplay Monitor. Needless to say, someone with Jerry’s impeccable credentials will not be sitting on the sidelines for very long — we strongly suggest you reach out to him — like today — at JJmac5762@gmail.com.
