McKenna Traded From Boston To Atlanta

• Stand by for the formal, quote-laden announcement, but RAMP has learned that New England radio icon Jerry McKenna is packing for a momentous move to Atlanta as the new PD of Entercom’s WSTR (Star 94.1), with a start date of Sept. 30. The Star PD position has been open since Ron Roberts exited in June. Unsurprisingly, the news of McKenna’s hire was broken by the very plugged-in Rodney Ho, the longtime writer of the Radio & TV Talk blog for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

McKenna was most recently Director of Programming for Cape Cod Broadcasting (CCB Media) until a year ago. Before that he was OM and Regional PD of the Cumulus clusters in Worcester and Springfield, MA. His first programming position was at WWKX (Hot 106)/Providence, and his lengthy Boston radio resume includes the legendary WXKS (Kiss 108), the late WZOUWQSX (Star 93.7)/WMKK (93.7 Mike FM) and WBMX (Mix 98.5).

Look for the official press release very soon.
