‘Mean Jean’ The Man At Hot 104.5/Knoxville
• SummitMedia Knoxville keeps it in the family and promotes afternoon drive personality “Mean Jean” Fremont to Program Director of Rhythmic WKHT (Hot 104.5). Those stripes were most recently worn by former OM Kevin “Gravy” Canup, who left in May and moved back to Michigan.
Fremont is already well up to speed in the Hot 104.5 programming department, having served as APD/MD and afternoon talent for the past two years. Fremont earlier spent four years with Hot 104.5 under a previous owner until his departure in June 2018. Before returning to Knoxville, he was on the air for Cox Media Group Top 40 WPYO (Power 95.3)/Orlando. Originally from New York, Fremont began his career as an intern with CBS Radio Orlando in the summer of 2009.
“I’m delighted to see Jean continue to grow in his contributions to our brand and the strategic direction of Hot 104.5 now as our Program Director,” said Knoxville Market President Chris Protzman. “His commitment to the station, music and community we serve are his driving passions.”
Fremont remarked, “Hot 104.5 has always been a special station to me. I’m really excited to be able to lead the first station that gave me my first full-time opportunity. I thank the team for their guidance and trusting me to take Hot 104.5 to the next level.”
While Fremont handles afternoons, the rest of the Hot 104.5 weekday line-up includes the Dex and Barbie T Morning Show, middays with DJ Eric B and the syndicated Tino Cochino Radio at night.
