Meet Crane On The Corner

• After a lengthy planetwide search, Saga Triple A WCNR (106.1 The Corner)/Charlotteville, VA has located its new Program Director — Jason Crane will join Saga’s Charlottesville Radio Group family on March 20.

Crane will migrate from State College PA, where he previously programmed Seven Mountains Media Triple A WFEQ (The Freq) until a 2019 flip to Classic Country. More recently he’s been doing mornings at sister Country WFGE (Big Froggy 101) searching for his “dream job” — and now, he’s found it, as Crane remarked, “I honestly can’t believe I get to play the music I love on a station with the history — and community connection — of The Corner, in a town with a music scene like Charlottesville’s. It’s no hyperbole to say this is a dream job for me.” In addition to afternoon drive on The Corner, Crane will also track nights on Country sibling WCVL (C-Ville Country).

Crane will succeed former WCNR PD/morning host Kendall Stewart, who left in late January after seven years to join Minnesota Public Radio Triple A KCMP (The Current)/Minneapolis-St. Paul as APD.

But wait! There’s more! Current WCNR MD Julie Koehrer has been upped to APD and will move up from afternoons to take over Stewart’s former morning drive position. OM Paul “Uncle Pauly” McDaniel said of Koehrer, “In the 15+ months Julie has been with us, she’s grown into an irreplaceable asset that, with this appointment, is poised to grow even more! A renewed commitment to live mornings and new blood in the programming department excites me for what is to come for WCNR on the air and more revenue opportunities for our stellar sellers!”
