Mimi Wheeler Moving On

RAMP has learned that Mimi Wheeler has tendered her resignation as MD and Promotions Director at Curtis Media Country WQDR/Raleigh and has accepted a new opportunity TBA outside of the market. Her last day in Raleigh is June 11. Wheeler joined WQDR in March 2017, transitioning from the MD post at iHeartMedia Country WTQR (Q104.1)/Greensboro and MD/middays across the street at iHeartMedia rival WNCB (B93.9).

WQDR PD Mike “Mad Dawg” Biddle said of Wheeler, “Mimi will be sorely missed, but we’re happy for the opportunity that’s presented itself. She’s worked hard for it and is very deserving. She stepped up and played a big role during a very difficult time when Lisa McKay passed away so suddenly. I, along with Curtis Media will always be grateful for that, both personally and professionally.”

Wheeler’s impending departure creates a prime opening for a new Promotions Director with possible MD stripes for the right candidate. We’re looking for someone with at least 1-2 years of promotions experience including event management and social media skills. The ideal candidate has the ability to work with a team but also the discipline to self-manage, be well-organized with attention to detail, and a willingness to work a non-traditional work schedule such as weekends and holidays. Previous programming and on-air experience is a plus, but not essential to this role. If this sounds like you, rush your current resume, salary requirements and detailed examples of promotions/event experience to Mike Biddle at mbiddle@curtismedia.com.
