Moving Day: Lisa Worden To iHeartMedia
• Less than four days before the big Entercom/CBS Radio merger becomes final, iHeartMedia announced it has hired respected Alternative programmer Lisa Worden away from CBS Radio’s World Famous KROQ to fill the dual role of Vice President of Programming for Alternative rival KYSR (ALT 98.7)/Los Angeles and Alternative Rock Brand Manager for iHeartMedia’s National Programming Group. As VP of Programming, Worden will work alongside ALT 98.7 PD Mike Kaplan, who has steered the station to new record ratings performances. In her new role as Alternative Rock Brand Manager, Worden will lead iHeartMedia’s Alternative Rock Brand Management Team, which connects key advertisers with the company’s Alternative Rock audience and provides strategic guidance to more than 25 Alternative Rock brands, reaching over 42 million listeners monthly. Worden will report to Tom Poleman, Chief Programming Officer for iHeartMedia, and Brad Hardin, Executive Vice President and General Manager of National Programming Group for iHeartMedia. “Lisa is widely regarded as an outstanding leader in the Alternative Rock world,” said Poleman. “Her relationships are fantastic. She’ll play a key role in helping artists maximize iHeartMedia’s unmatched Alternative footprint.”
Worden brings more than two decades of Alternative Rock programming experience to iHeartMedia, most recently as APD/MD for the World Famous KROQ/Los Angeles. She joined the station as its Music Director in 1995. In 2003 Worden transferred to Washington, DC as PD of WHFS/Washington, returning to KROQ in 2005. Commenting on her new challenge, Worden said, “I could not be more thrilled to join the incomparable iHeartMedia team and work with the amazing people at iHeartMedia Los Angeles. My 20-plus year career in radio has led to this tipping point. I can’t wait to take the iHeartMedia Alternative platform to new heights!”
