Munoz To Middays On WIOD/Miami
• iHeartMedia’s WIOD (NewsRadio 610)/Miami has elevated longtime station veteran Manny Munoz to midday co-host, effective Monday, Jan. 9. He will succeed Brian Mudd, who remains PD and morning host at sister WJNO (NewsRadio 1290)/West Palm Beach.
Munoz has been with WIOD for over two decades and has served as Executive Producer, fill-in host, sports reporter, and sidekick for South Florida’s First News with Jimmy Cefalo for the past 14 years. He also contributes to programming on sister WINZ (Fox Sports 940). A nationwide search is now underway for a part-time midday co-host for Munoz.
“We are delighted to expand Manny’s presence on WIOD,” said Shari Gonzalez, Market President of iHeartMedia Miami-Ft. Lauderdale. “Manny will now be leading his own show, middays from 10am-noon, bringing to South Florida a fresh perspective from one of their own. What a great fit for the evolution of WIOD. We are grateful to Brian Mudd for his four and a half years with us and are certain Brian will have continued success enlightening and entertaining the Palm Beaches.”
Munoz reports to Grace Blazer, VP of News & AM Programming for iHeartMedia Miami, who commented, “I’m excited for Manny to excel with this new midday opportunity. The search is on for the perfect partner who will complement Manny and provide great live and local content with a digital finesse for our South Florida audience.” Munoz remarked, “Born in Hialeah, raised in Kendall and living in Southwest Broward for the last 27 years, I’m excited for the opportunity to have a show focused on the issues that affect South Floridians on a daily basis. I can’t wait to meet my new partner so we can inform, entertain, and bring a smile to WIOD’s loyal listeners and invite new ears to join the show too.”
