Murphy & KHMX: The Right Mix For Houston
As we so cleverly hinted last week, veteran programmer Chase Murphy has been named Program Director of CBS Radio Hot AC KHMX (Mix 96.5)/Houston, effective today. “Chase is a leader, a team builder, a talent coach and a builder of brands. He is the perfect fit for KHMX, a big brand with great heritage in the Houston market,” said Sarah Frazier, SVP and Market Manager, CBS Radio Houston.
Murphy most recently spent five years with iHeartMedia in his hometown of San Antonio as Regional PD, Central Texas Region and PD of Top 40 KXXM (Mix 96.1), AC KQXT (Q101.9) and Regional Mexican KQXT-HD3 (La Preciosa 105.7) until last October. Before that he enjoyed a six-year stint as OM/PD of Entercom Top 40 WFBC (B93.7) and AC WSPA (Magic 98.9)/Greenville, SC. His earlier programming stops include four years at KHOP/Modesto, CA and a stint at WXLO/Worcester, MA. He’s also a blogger and motivational speaker and the author of Pull the Trigger and #TryHarder.
Murphy commented, “I would like to thank Sarah Frazier, Jeff Sottolano, Steve Salhany and Bruce Logan for all their support! I’m looking forward to working with the industry’s best and brightest at CBS Radio! Being a kid from Texas and getting a chance to program KHMX is like a dream come true! Go Texans!”
