Nashville Welcomes ‘Y’all 106.7’

UPDATED: Nashville now has its fourth Country station, as Midwest Communications flips 13-year-old Top 40 WNFN (Hot 106.7) to Classic Country as “Y’all 106.7” at 10am CT. Making this move even more momentous, the format flip switch was personally thrown by Country icon Randy Travis, launching into none other than Travis’ iconic hit, “Forever and Ever, Amen.”

Travis was accompanied in the studio by Y’all 106.7’s newly named Brand Manager Ron Allen, who also programs Adult Hits sister WCJK (96.3 JACK-FM) and serves as Format Captain for Midwest Communications’ Classic Country brand DUKE FM. He has also launched and programmed several Country stations over the course of his career. Allen said, “We fully appreciate that the Country format in Nashville is crowded, but we believe there is still an opportunity to serve the community and be successful in this lane.”

Representing Midwest Communications ownership family, Mary Kay Wright said, “Nashville is a market already rich in great Country programming, but we feel that this unique ’80s and ’90s-based format will bring Country listeners an exciting new option. It’s such an honor to have Randy Travis as part of our Y’all 106.7 launch. He isn’t just a top artist from the ’80s — he helped define the best of what Country music was then and still is today.”

And on a personal note, Ms. Wright added, “Today is a little bittersweet for our family. Midwest Communications CEO & Founder, Duke Wright, who recently passed away, was a huge fan of Randy Travis. ‘Forever and Ever, Amen’ was one of his all-time favorites. He would have been thrilled that Randy helped kick off Y’all 106.7.”

RAMP has confirmed that Hot 106.7 Brand Manager Joe Breezy will remain with the company in a new capacity TBA, continue as Music/Industry Relations Director & Sunday host of the syndicated Open House Party, and retain his Music City television presence on the daily lifestyle show, Local On 2 on WKRN-TV. Hot 106.7 night jock Eryn Cooper will be moving to the new brand as APD. Going forward, Breezy can be contacted at at joebreezyradio@gmail.com.
