New Era For Radio Milwaukee

• Radio Milwaukee announces some new programming features, beginning Sunday, March 17, including an expanded partnership with NPR Music to bring listeners more exciting, elevated Sunday programming with the addition of four new shows: All Songs Considered, hosted by Bob Boilen and produced by Robin Hilton; World Cafe, hosted by Raina Douris; Alt.Latino, hosted by Felix Contreras and Anamaria Sayre; and Jazz Night in America, hosted by Grammy-winning musician Christian McBride.

“For the past decade, NPR Music has set the standard for new music discovery,” says Jordan Lee, Sr. Director of Programming for non-comm Triple A WYMS (88Nine). “From their widely popular ‘Tiny Desk’ concerts to nationally syndicated programs like All Songs Considered, NPR Music defines new music discovery in the 21st century. We’ve been excited to contribute to NPR Music for years, but our new Sunday programming is solidifying an even deeper relationship with the brand and bringing NPR Music excellence to Milwaukee.”

In addition to the NPR programming, 88Nine and Urban Alternative HYFIN are introducing new on-air hosts — Digital Director Tarik Moody will come off air and shift his role of managing HYFIN and all of Radio Milwaukee’s digital footprint to more engaging and interactive content, while Megan Mathews and Kim Shine join HYFIN’s on-air lineup. Moody said, “Growing HYFIN’s on-air staff and programming in ways that reflect HYFIN’s listenership is exciting and rewarding. Megan Mathews and Kim Shine will bring segments that resonate with our next generation of listeners, and I look forward to leading the station behind the scenes.”

And there’s more — Carolann Grzybowski will host a show on 88Nine every weeknight at 9pm, while Britt Gottschalk, Mallorey Wallace, and Salam Fatayer will also join the 88Nine air staff. Salam has been the voice and mind behind Uniquely Milwaukee programming and podcasts for many years. She will continue to be a vital voice of community storytelling while adding her presence as a Saturday DJ. Complete details about Radio Milwaukee’s new era are posted here.
