Ocean & Kelly Ride Again
• Last week we announced that Danny Ocean had exited as Regional Director of Affiliate Relations for United Stations Radio Networks and would be announcing his next opportunity shortly. That time is now, and we are thrilled to report that Danny and his longtime friend, Radio Hall Of Famer Kid Kelly are reunited once again — Ocean has been named Senior Vice President of Affiliate Relations for Backtrax Radio Networks, home of Backtrax ’80s and Backtrax ’90s with Kid Kelly. Ocean will be responsible for network radio affiliate relations for a new program called Kid Kelly Daily — a five-hour ’80s show hosted by Kelly and offered in a fully-produced format including music, as well as a Plain Wrap version, consisting of voice tracks only for Classic Hits, AC and Hot AC stations.
This new gig marks the fourth successful Kelly/Ocean collaboration — they previously worked together at Z100/New York and the late WBMW (B106)/Washington, as well as a 3 1/2-year run (as PD and APD/MD respectively) at WBHT (Hot 97)/Wilkes Barre-Scranton, PA.
