OM Opportunity: Cumulus Pensacola

• After two years and change as OM/PD of Cumulus Media’s Pensacola, FL group, RAMP has confirmed that Glenn Johnson is leaving for a new gig with Danny Lipford and Today’s Homeowner Media, the parent company of the Emmy-nominated Today’s Homeowner television show, companion syndicated radio show and TodaysHomeowner.com.

Johnson, the artist formerly known as “QTip,” was named to his current post in May 2019 after a four-year stint in Nashville, first as Executive Producer of what was then America’s Morning Show with Blair Garner, and later, the now-former Ty Bentli Show. He resigned in April 2019, shortly after his wife Cherish resigned from her anchor position at Nashville ABC affiliate WKRN-TV to accept a new gig at WKRG-TV/Mobile, a move that put them closer to family in the Mobile. AL area, where Johnson had notably spent a decade, co-hosting mornings on Cumulus Top 40 WABD, and before that, Dittman Broadcasting’s late, legendary WABB. He also worked at WYOK/Mobile from 2004-2006.

The good news is, 1) Johnson will remain in the Pensacola/Mobile area, and 2) He will be in the Cumulus building for a while to help in the search for his successor to take operational command of AC WMEZ (Soft Rock 94.1), Country WXBM, Classic Hits WJTQ (Jet 100.7), News-Talk WCOA-1370 AM and Urban AC WRRX (Magic 106.1).

“Please send some great candidates our way!” Johnson says. “Pensacola is a great market for radio, and the Gulf Coast is hard to beat for being a great place to live!” You heard the man — motivated candidates are urged to check out the gig on the Cumulus Careers portal and apply online ASAP. Johnson can be contacted at GlennJohnsonEmail@gmail.com.
