Philly Fanatic PD Masteller Announces Retirement

• Beasley Media Group announced that Scott Masteller, Program Director of WPEN (97.5 The Fanatic)/Philadelphia, will retire, effective Dec. 31, concluding a distinguished radio career spanning more than 45 years.

Since joining The Fanatic more than three years ago, Masteller has played an important role in the station’s continued growth. He helped realign its programming strategy, reshape the on-air lineup and bring together the current team of personalities representing the brand. Masteller also worked closely with several of the station’s key voices, using his experience as a programmer and talent coach to support their development and growth.

“Scott has brought tremendous knowledge, thoughtful leadership and a deep commitment to excellence to The Fanatic,” said Paul Blake, VP/Market Manager of Beasley Philadelphia. “He understands what makes sports radio meaningful to its audience and has always been generous in sharing his insight with those around him. Scott was key in The Fanatic’s growth, and he helped position the station well for its next chapter. We are deeply grateful for Scott’s contributions and congratulate him on an outstanding career and a well-earned retirement.”

Before joining The Fanatic in Jan. 2024, Masteller seven years as Program Director of Hearst’s WBAL (News Radio 1090/101.5)/Baltimore. Masteller previously spent 13 years with ESPN, rising to Sr. Director of Content at the ESPN Radio Network HQ in Bristol, CT, and earlier programmed ESPN affiliate KESN/Dallas and KFXX-AM/Portland, OR.
