Radio Pros Take On TV

• The popular podcast Mobshot: My Life in the Mafia — is getting close to an upgrade to a television series — with longtime KRTH (K-Earth 101)/Los Angeles morning personality Gary Bryan serving as Executive Producer. Another radio vet, John Murphy, who won an Emmy for his work on CBS’ The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation, wrote the pilot and the series bible.

Deadline.com reports that Mobshot (and the companion audiobook, published last year by Bryan’s Radio Genius production company) focuses on the life of Vince Ciacci, a longtime member of New York’s Little Italy gang who went from tormented child to feared criminal and eventually, to redemption. The potential TV series will follow the path taken by Ciacci, who now lives in Los Angeles.

“We’ve been working on this for a couple of years,” Bryan (pictured) tells RAMP. “Our subject/narrator is Vince Ciacci, a GREAT storyteller. Our screenwriter is John Murphy, and radio people will remember him as the former morning dude on Z100/Portland and KZLA here in Los Angeles. I’ve known John for a long time, and we just hooked up again a few years ago. He has become a terrific screenwriter! His feature script, Red Willow is in development, and his work on Mobshot is amazing. We’re very excited about getting this project into the right hands!”
