Power 96/Miami Seeks New PD

RAMP has confirmed that Will Calder, longtime APD/MD/Imaging Director and midday personality at Entercom Rhythmic WPOW (Power 96)/Miami has tendered his resignation, effective June 15. Calder arrived at Power 96 in January 2013 as APD/midday personality and has, until now, ridden the ownership wave from Beasley to CBS Radio to Entercom. He has served as Acting PD of Power 96 since the April departure of Rob Morris.

Calder’s radio career began in 2001 at former Chicago-area Dance trimulcast WKIE/WKIF/WDEK (Energy 92.7 & 5). He later served as Production Coordinator for EntercomMilwaukee and Production Director/Asst. MD and on-air personality at the former WXRK (92.3 Now)/New York. He also built a reputation as an in-demand club jock and mix show maestro, creating the nationally syndicated Radiomixes and Internet radio station, iPartyRadio.

RAMP reached out to Calder, who told us, “I’m sad that I’m leaving, but I’m happy how I’m leaving it.” Calder is now studying his future programming options and can be easily contacted at 312-622-3322 or willcalder@mac.com.

• Concurrent with the news of Calder’s impending exit, Entercom has formally posted the ad seeking a new PD for Power 96. As the posting so eloquently states, Power 96 is seeking “an experienced Program Director with a clear and unique vision to strategically propel it to new ratings and revenue levels. We are looking for a Program Director that lives and breathes rhythmic CHR, while being informative, relevant and entertaining.” And there you have it.
