Power 98.3/Phoenix: Remixed
• Desert Valley Media Group Rhythmic KKFR (Power 98.3)/Phoenix announced a dramatically revamped on-air lineup — the action begins with Brand Manager Jonathan “J” Steele and J Alexaa moving from afternoons to mornings to anchor Wake Up With J Steele & J Alexaa, starting Tuesday, Oct. 1.
The Premiere-syndicated Big Boy’s Neighborhood moves from mornings to 9am-noon, followed from noon-3pm by current midday talent J Philla, now paired with Matt Villa. And making his triumphant return to KKFR for the third time — market fave Deongello “Gello” Vanorsby, who unplugs from mornings across the hall on Hot AC simulcast sister KMVA/KZON (Hot 97.5/103.9), and reclaims afternoon drive on Power 98.3. The Premiere-syndicated Bootleg Kev Show remains in nights.
Steele commented, “Power is an iconic brand, and to get the opportunity to wake up the listeners of the Valley is a dream come true. Alexaa and I are dedicated to entertaining and informing the Hip-Hop listeners in our community. Very grateful to the wonderful folks here for allowing us to execute our vision for what a morning radio show should sound like in Phoenix.”
Alexaa added, “When I decided to change careers last year, I would’ve never imagined being given a lifetime opportunity to be a part of a morning show so quickly. The on-air chemistry that J Steele and I have is undeniable, and we’ve built a strong friendship that runs through our afternoon show. We’re thrilled to bring the same energy to the Valley in morning drive! Content and music is the core of our brand, but it’s more important to us to truly serve our community and we can’t wait to get started!”
Desert Valley Media Group CEO Michael Cutchall said, “For almost 30 years Power has been the epicenter for all things Hip Hop, Music, entertainment, lifestyle, and culture. It’s a proud heritage that continues to engage over the air, on-line, through social media and in the community.”
