Programming Moves At DBC Savannah
• There’s been an alteration in the force at Dick Broadcasting (DBC) Classic Hip-Hop/Throwback WXYY (G100.1)/Savannah, which has expanded its area of expertise to Rhythmic Top 40 and has rebranded as “Savannah’s Hip-Hop and Throwback Station,” playing today’s major Hip-Hop hits from Doja Cat, Drake, Jack Harlow, Post Malone, The Weeknd, Beyoncé, etc., alongside the biggest throwback Hip-Hop and R&B hits.
Along with the format adjustment, G100.1 transitions its morning show from Brooke & Jeffrey to the Compass Media Networks-syndicated DeDe In The Morning. Tim Shelton remains in middays, followed by PD Mia Mance (below, left), who noted, “As the Savannah market grows, G100.1 wants to give our listeners the hitmakers and still play Classic Hip-Hop bangers! ‘Today’s Hip Hop and Throwbacks’ is a WIN-WIN for Savannah!”
OM Matt Derrick commented, “This year is the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop music, and this is the right time to evolve this important brand for Savannah and deliver the biggest Hip-Hop artists of this generation and blending it with the all the Hip-Hop and R&B favorites that connect generations of fans!”
The action continues across the hall at Active Rock sister WFXH (Rock 106.1), where cluster Promotions Director John Marshall is promoted to PD and afternoon host. Marshall (above, right) said, “Any single career can and will take you to different places you’d never think you’d reach. Some, you’ll get there by working hard with a great attitude and determination in your back pocket. Others just lie, saying they ‘got this’ while learning behind the scenes as much as they can, hoping their bosses don’t learn they don’t, in fact, ‘got this.’ In my career, this may be the biggest ‘gotcha’ moment I’ve had up to this point. Thanks to Adub, Matty Ice, Jason Goodman (I’m contractually obligated to say his name), and the entire company for this opportunity.”
