Programming Pros On The Loose
• RAMP has confirmed Matt Derrick‘s departure as FM Operations Manager for NRG Omaha after nearly two years. No replacement has been named. Derrick (left) landed in Omaha in July 2017 to lead NRG’s Omaha FM Operations team, overseeing Hot AC KQKQ (Sweet 98.5), Rhythmic KOPW (Power 106.9) and Adult Hits KOOO (101.9 The Keg).
Derrick previously served as Regional Programming Manager and SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Norfolk/Virginia Beach until May 2016. Before that he was Regional Programming Manager for Clear Channel’s stations in Wilmington, DE and Salisbury, MD. Derrick has also worked at the late KNGY (Energy 92.7)/Francisco and KHTT (106.9 K-Hits)/Tulsa, OK.
Derrick says he should have an announcement soon regarding his next opportunity. In the meantime, he can be reached at mtb1069@icloud.com.
• RAMP has also confirmed the departure of Mike Luoma as MD and midday personality at Montpelier Broadcasting Triple A network WNCS (The Point)/Burlington, VT after eight years, reportedly due to budgetary issues.
Looking ahead, Luoma (left) is maintaining a positive attitude, as he told RAMP, “I’m viewing this as an opportunity to explore what’s next and figure out the future.” That future could include radio, or employ other mad skills that Luoma brings to the party. An early adopter of podcasting, Luoma has been actively involved in that area for the past 12 years. “I’ve also been creating and publishing comic books and novels for even longer than that,” he said, adding, “and it would be great to find a situation where I could bring more of my skills to bear.”Check out Mike’s extensive body of work posted on glowinthedarkradio.com.
Luoma said he would also be willing to relocate “for the ideal situation — Triple A, MD at a new music discovery-driven station.” You heard the man — Luoma is motivated and ready to share his ideas and discuss intriguing opportunities — reach out to him at 978-855-6244 or glowinthedarkradio@gmail.com.
