Programming Upgrades At Radio One Houston/Dallas

• Radio One Houston announced a series of strategic programming leadership appointments across Urban AC KMJQ (Majic 102.1) and Rhythmic KBXX (97.9 The Box) — As part of these changes, Yonni Rude (left), who last month transferred from Radio One Houston to Dallas as Operations Manager, has been promoted to Operations Manager for both Radio One Houston and Dallas, overseeing operations and programming strategy across both markets.

Those changes extend to KMJQ and KBXX, both formerly programmed by Rude — Houston radio veteran and Texas Radio Hall of Famer The Madd Hatta, currently KMJQ afternoon drive host, has been elevated to Program Director, supported by India “Queen Indy Bee” Brewton, who will serve as APD/MD for both KMJQ and 105.7 KRNB/Dallas.

Elsewhere at The Box, JQue, host of Good Morning H-Town, takes the reins as Program Director, while Theo “Big Bink” Turner will serve as APD/MD for both The Box and KBFB/Dallas. Pictured, (l-r): Madd Hatta, Brewton, JQue, & Big Bink

“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead the programming efforts across both Houston and Dallas, working alongside the talented teams in each market to showcase the best voices, personalities, and content our cities have to offer,” said Rude, a 10-year Radio One veteran. “Our goal is to continue building strong, relevant programming that reflects the unique culture of each community, connects with our listeners, and reinforces the powerful brands we represent.”

In another major programming announcement, radio icon Bay Bay has joined 97.9 The Box to do afternoon drive. Based in Dallas, Bay Bay (left) has established himself as a dominant force in afternoon radio through his work at the legendary KKDA (K104).

“Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes our vision, our talent, and the way we think about radio!” said RVP Doug Abernethy. “These changes reflect our commitment to delivering fresh, relevant, and engaging content that speaks to the unique spirit of the communities we serve while continuing to push our brands forward.”
