Pros In Motion
• After 40 years in radio in the Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News market– the past 23 with Max Media, veteran programmer/air talent Mike Allen is unplugging and starting a new chapter with his wife and their two young sons in her hometown of Sarasota, FL.
Allen spent the past 13 years as PD of AC WVBW (92-9 The Wave) and Classic Hits WGH-AM 1310. He also did mornings on WGH, middays on The Wave and nights on Top 40 WVHT (Hot 100). Allen’s other local programming and/or on-air stops include WNOR (FM 99), WMYK (K94), WNVZ (Z104), WGH-FM (97.3 The Eagle) and WFOG (Oldies 92-9).
Allen said, “It has been a true pleasure to work with owners and two Coastal Virginia Legends, Dick Lamb and Gene Loving, as well as John Trinder and the entire Max Media team. This is where I grew up, and to work with local ownership was a truly unique, fun and special experience for me.”
Once he gets settled in sunny Florida, Allen will be seeking radio work in and around the Sarasota, Ft. Myers, Tampa-St. Petersburg region. He can be reached at 757-377-4620 or kvandorn@cox.net until he establishes a new email address.
• Adams Radio Top 40 WJFX (Hot 107.9)/Ft. Wayne, IN keeps it firmly in the family and promotes hometown girl Taylor Morgan from late nights/weekends to middays. That opportunity was born last month when Amber Stone moved back home to Detroit to explore opportunities outside of radio.
Hot 107.9 Brand Manager Robbie Mack commented, “In radio, the trajectory was always to start as an intern, to work odd jobs, part-time hours, doing overnights and weekends, helping out the promotions staff, anything you could do to get your foot in the door and work your way up. Taylor has been doing just that with us for several years now. Hot 107.9 is known in Fort Wayne for hiring top-notch professional hosts to entertain our community. I’m stoked to offer Taylor the chance to shine as our midday star.”
Taylor remarked, “Music has been a passion of mine since I was a child and it’s a dream come true to take on a bigger role and grow here at Hot 107.9. As a Fort Wayne native, it’s an exciting time as our amazing city continues to grow as well and I look forward to being more involved in our community. I am just really excited to be doing something I love.”
