• Eugene (OH) Area Radio Stations (EARS) is pleased to announce that the 2019 Oregon Association of Broadcasting (OAB) Broadcaster of the Year honor has been awarded to Valerie Steele, longtime PD/afternoon talent of Bicoastal Media Top 40 KDUK/Eugene, citing her length of service and selfless charity work. This award is one of only three statewide broadcasting awards.

Steele was nominated by her boss, Jeff Gaulton, Market Manager of Bicoastal Media Eugene, who noted, “Val has been with KDUK for 26 years. Starting as a weekend overnight air talent with zero radio experience, she has worked her way up to the top of the chain as Program Director and Operations Manager for KDUK as well as Operations Manager for [KFLY] US101 Country. She has long been recognized locally as one of radio’s top performers.” Gaulton added, “Awarding OAB Broadcaster of the Year to Val Steele is recognition of her continued rise to the top of the Oregon Broadcasting industry and is a well-deserved acknowledgement of her passion for radio and our community.”

The press release says of Steele, “Achieving phenomenal success, not only in radio, but also as a beacon and role model for female teens and women throughout the KDUK listening area, Val is a tremendous leader, wife and mother. She continues to embrace her community and her role as a woman in radio through her work programming KDUK and performing on the air in afternoon drive every Monday-Friday from 2-6pm.”

RAMP reached out to Steele, who shared her thoughts on this impressive recognition, telling us, “This honor totally came out of left field and I’m beyond honored for the recognition. I, like so many others, feel so very fortunate, especially in the current climate, to be able to continue to share my life & support my community on-air and in the public every day!” You can add your best wishes to ours by emailing Val at valsteele@bicoastal.media.
