Saga Seeks The Maine Ingredient

• Stand by for the official word, but RAMP has already confirmed that Jonathan “JR” Ruppel has resigned as Brand Manager of Saga Country WPOR/Portland, ME and is headed home to Michigan, hired by Townsquare Media as Director of Content for the company’s Lansing group and PD of Country 100.7 WITL, with a start date of June 1.

Ruppel (left), a native of Flint, MI, earned the transfer to WPOR in June 2019 after a seven-year run as OM of Saga’s Harrisonburg, VA Radio Group and Brand Manager of Country WSIG/Harrisonburg. He previously programmed KSCN/Mt. Pleasant, TX and also did traffic and swing for Citadel Nashville a few years back.

With Ruppel’s last day of May 27 fast approaching, Saga Director of Group Programming Scott Chase has fast-tracked the search for his successor. This is a rare opportunity to program top-rated WPOR and put your own stamp on a legendary brand in New England’s 4th largest media market.

• 101.9 POR features Jon, Joe & Courtney All Morning and 12-In-A-Row All Day, plus, local talent in all key dayparts, major cash contests, concerts and more. We’re meticulous about every facet of our brand, and we play to win. Portland is home to more rated Country signals than Nashville, so a competitive mindset is absolutely essential.

Because you’ll be joining the best in the business, documented programming success in a rated market is mandatory, as is fluency in contemporary Country formatics and the ability to write and produce cinematic imaging and production. A daily airshift is also required. Qualified candidates are invited to send their resume and scoped audio demo in complete confidence to: WPOR PD, c/o Portland Radio Group, 420 Western Avenue, South Portland, ME 04106 or e-mail your stuff to WPORPD@portlandradiogroup.com and schase@sagacom.com. EOE. The position is now posted at sagacom.com.
