Silverman Booked From PHL To LAX
• Alex Silverman has been named as Director of News and Programming for Audacy’s KNX (News 97.1 FM)/Los Angeles, effective September 19. Silverman will oversee the station’s editorial strategy and newsroom, including broadcast and digital operations. He succeeds Ken Charles, who departed a few weeks ago.
Silverman earns the transfer from sister KYW Newsradio (103.9/1060)/Philadelphia, where he has served as Brand Manager since 2018. Before that he was Assistant Director of News and Programming at Audacy’s WCBS 880/New York.
“Alex has led two of our company’s leading news brands to newfound success and industry-wide recognition,” said Jeff Federman, Regional President, Audacy Southern California. “We look forward to welcoming him to the team and further establishing KNX as the go-to news source for Southern Californians.”
Silverman’s earlier reporter/anchor stops include KIRO-FM/Seattle and WSYR-AM/Syracuse, NY, where he graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Silverman serves on the Board of Directors of the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and has been an adjunct instructor at Fordham University, where he designed a course titled “Social Media for Journalists.”
Silverman said, “KNX News is iconic. I can’t wait to work with the amazing team to build the future of the brand and set the agenda for news coverage in Southern California. Thank you to Jeff Federman, Chris Ebbott, Jeff Sottolano and Bill Smee for their confidence in me and commitment to impactful local journalism.”
