Solk Assumes New Strategic Role

RAMP has learned that Greg Solk will be stepping down as VP of Programming & Operations for Audacy Chicago at the end of the month as he has accepted the newly created role of Head of Brand Strategy for the market.

The news of Solk’s new responsibilities was shared in a staff memo from Rachel Williamson, Audacy Regional President, and obtained by RAMP, which reads, in part, “Greg expressed to me his desire to step back and pivot into a role with more flexibility while remaining part of our programming team. This new role will allow us to continue to benefit from his wealth of programming knowledge and his deep connection to our powerhouse brands and team. Since Greg was promoted into the VP of Programming & Operations role in 2021, we’ve seen the impact of his leadership through many changes and subsequent positive ratings and brand growth — we currently have half of our brands positioned Top 5 in the market!”

The memo continues, “Under the new arrangement, Greg will continue to work one-on-one with our six Brand Managers to help drive brand strategy and on-air programming excellence. As Greg requested, he will relinquish his operational managerial duties, and our Brand Managers and Director of Technical Operations again will report directly to me.” In closing, Williamson noted, “Greg’s reputation as a creative and visionary leader speaks for itself, and I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to lead with him in this new role.”
