Soundcheck Still Parties Like Its 1999

• After a three-month hiatus, the Bay Area’s leading audio source for new music and local bands, Soundcheck, triumphantly returns to the airwaves next Sunday, March 18 from 9-midnight on Entercom Alternative KITS (ALT 105.3)/San Francisco. The show had been on the sidelines since KITS rebranded from Live 105 to ALT105.3 in December.

FYI: 2018 mark’s Soundcheck‘s 19th season. A quick calculation reveals the show debuted waaaay back in 1999. Artists like The Killers, Muse, Gorillaz, Foster The People, Bastille, Imagine Dragons, Vampire Weekend, Silversun Pickups, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, and MGMT all made their Bay Area — and often national commercial radio — debuts on Soundcheck over the years.

RAMP spoke with Soundcheck‘s founder and host, ALT 105.3 APD/MD Aaron Axelsen, who told us, “Soundcheck is ubiquitous with new music discovery here in the Bay Area and an important voice and platform for the local music scene as well. I’m thrilled that Michael Martin gave us the green light to bring back our seminal new music show for its 19th year — and first on the new ALT 105.3!”
