South Bend Playin’ A Ton O’Country
• At the stroke of 9am today, June 28, Mid-West Family South Bend will flip a big red switch to launch a new radio station for the South Bend market — “New Country 96.1 The Ton,” powered by WQLQ-HD3.
As the new name strongly implies, The Ton will play tons of music, give you tons of fun with Bobby Bones in the morning… without a Ton of commercials. “It was a weighty decision, but when you have the opportunity to have Tons of fun, you just go for it,” said General Manager Bill Gamble, who worked late into the evening last night to prepare for the big launch.
And, as you may have already figured by now, The Ton lineup kicks off with the syndicated Bobby Bones Show in morning drive, followed by Brooke Hunter in middays, and Mark McGill, former morning host on Pathfinder Communications’ Country WBYT (B100)/Elkhart, IN in afternoon drive.
