Stewart Joins The Current As APD

UPDATED: Minnesota Public Radio Triple A KCMP (The Current)/Minneapolis-St. Paul announces the hire of format veteran Kendall Stewart as APD, effective Monday, Feb. 6.

Stewart (left) makes the big Twin Cities move from Saga Triple A WCNR (106.1 The Corner)/Charlotteville, VA, where she was most recently PD and morning host. Over her seven years in Charlottesville, Stewart also held the positions of MD/middays, APD/afternoons, and also did nights on Classic Rock sister WWWV (97.5 3WV).

In making the announcement, Current PD Lindsay Kimball said, “Kendall is an industry leader who brings immense experience to this role. I can’t wait to see her thrive as a part of this team and help The Current continue to grow. I’m so pumped for her to join The Current!” David Safar, Managing Director, The Current, told RAMP, “Kendall is going to bring new energy to The Current as a key member of our leadership and programming team!”

Stewart’s love of radio began at Emerson College’s 88.9 WERS in her hometown of Boston. After graduation she worked for WXRV (92.5 The River) and WUMB/Boston before joining 106.1 The Corner in 2015. “I’ve admired The Current ever since I started in Triple A and often looked to them for inspiration during my time in Charlottesville,” Stewart said. “The opportunity to join the team is a real honor and I can’t wait to hit the ground running! Let’s go!”

• And, on the heels of Kendall Stewart‘s big move to the Twin Cities… Saga’s Charlottesville Radio Group in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia is now actively seeking a new PD for Triple A WCNR (106.1 The Corner).

For the past 16 years, The Corner has built a deep connection to the community, local businesses, and likely the deepest connection to the local live music scene — which is thriving, and ONLY The Corner serves as its megaphone. Do you love music? Are you a social media monster? Qualified candidates will do an air shift, and must be proficient in music scheduling and audio editing, must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an understanding of the music industry. A minimum three years of prior programming experience at a music station is required, preferably in the Triple A format

Sound like you? If so, submit your resume, cover letter, and on-air demo to OM Paul “Uncle Pauly” McDaniel at pmcdaniel@charlottesvilleradiogroup.com, and please use the phrase-that-pays “I Am The Corner” in the subject line. EOE.
